Bass teacher recommendations in San Francisco

I'm looking for recommendations for a new bass (upright) teacher in San Francisco--preferably someone who is qualified to teach intermediate to advanced students and who is proficient at jazz and classical music/techniques. Bonus points if they know something about composition and theory--I'm a music theory nerd.

Thanks!

How about John Wiitala? He posts here, and he plays his ass off. Dunno if he teaches, though.

Thanks. I'll look into John.

John Wiitala - he posts here on TBDB (user: JDubbleYoo). Sorry to out you John. I do believe John does teach.
Glenn Richman - short drive to alameda
Seward McCain - lives on the pennisula.

You can't go wrong with any of these guys, they're all great and really nice. PM me if you want contact info. They also all teach at the Jazzschool in Berkeley - some more than others.

+1 on hdiddy's list.

You can also try Clark Suprynowicz (Berkeley) and/or Chuck Metcalf (Emeryville).

While I've not taken any lessons from John Wiitala (yet), I concur that he's a seriously good player, he does indeed teach and he's a really nice guy!
