Bassist Karma

I was flipping channels on the boob tube a month or so back and came across a Cosby Show episode wherein' Cliff's father was on stage pretending to play the trombone with a rather large jazz group. I immediately recognized Art Blakey, Percy Heath, Tito Puente and thought maybe Potato Valdez and wasn't sure about some of the others. So, I went to imdb.com to look at the credits, was right about the ones I saw, and realized a few others like Jimmy Heath, but noticed that they hadn't credited Percy Heath (or anyone) as the bassist. So, I went through a form that they have to submit corrections and gave them some referrence links to validate my claim. They said they would put their fact checkers on it and make the change if they were convinced.

I just noticed that he is now credited. Certainly not the highlight of his career, but I feel like I've done my good deed for the year and can go back to being a poophead now.

RIP Percy, I've been spinning "Bag's Groove" this week and trying to copp your lines. Very tasty as always.

That's the MJQ one I have -- great stuff, eh?! I'd like to pick up something later, when Perc was more experienced as a bassist.

Troy already mentioned Bags Groove, which should be in everyone's collection.

I particularly like "Django" - quite possibly my favourite MJQ recording.
