Bow Quiver Resources

I have been searching for a shorter, smaller bow quiver for my Czech Ease bass. The one I have from Lemur, and they only sell one type, is too large and wide and does not fit this bass correctly. I have two DB friends who have quivers that are overall smaller and shorter that would work for this, but they don't remember where they got them.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Doing a search seems to result in quivers that are mostly like the ones at Lemur.

I don't know if ot is any less wide than others, but the one that Kolstein sells is deffinately shorter than most others I've used.

Thanks

BG,

Thank you so much for this resource. I never thought of going to Kolstein's website and this one looks like its about 3-4" shorter and just might work.

Quiver substitute

Instead of a quiver I use a bow hook.

I bought a small, plastic, spring loaded clamp from Home Hardware. I cut off the swivel ends that would clamp something flat. The curves of the arms are perfect for the shape of a Manhasset stand. Then I wrapped some electrical tape on the arms to protect the bow.

This also works well instead of putting the bow on the stand or through the bridge or in the F-hole when you want to do an extended pizz passage or write something on the music.

Decision

After doing some further research at various bass stores and even ebay, Kolstein ended up the winner with a length of 14" Customer service answered my question right away. The width is 6", but not concerned with that. Thanks again BG

Bejoyous, your idea is intriguing, but I don't use a stand on stage, and really like the safety and convenience of the quiver. Hope it works well for you.

I would suggest putting another hole further up the quiver for the bottom string. The bass already looks funny, so the quiver hanging past the end of the bass shouldn't look any wierder.

You're welcome. Hope it works for you. One cautionairy note about this quiver. Since it IS short and wide it doesn't "hug" the shaft of the bow at all. Just be careful if you lay the bass down on the treble side, the bow will be loose in the pocket (on the opposite bass side) and could potentially fall out. This has happened to me while doubling on bass guitar and when putting the uprite down in a hurry, I've looked down to see my bow on the floor next to the uprite.

Kolstein

Kolstein quiver arrived the other day, just tied it on. Absolute winner, in black, looks right on the Czech-Ease. When tied on, lines up just right at the bottom and only extends about an inch above the bridge. I get lots of positive comments about this bass, so this adds a final touch and now I won't be looking for my bow, haha, at one rehearsal, just for fun, I had everyone wait until I got the bow out of the case and did the final arco bowing. Thanks for the comment about being careful when you put it on its side, BG.
