Brun or Elgar?

My lovely wife wants to get me something DB related for Christmas. If you could only buy one, which would it be.

or
A new History or the Double Bass, Paul Brun

The Elgar books are becoming exceedingly harder to find; I would go for those while they are still around.

Elgar's book has a lot of (b&w) pictures of old, rare, funky, famous-maker basses, and lots of historical info. Opinions on its accuracy vary.
Brun's is interesting, but a bit of a dry read IMO. Much about period music and composers, and the evolution of the instrument to suit.

agreed, some of the basses in Elgar are not as they named.
