There are links to EUB building info at Bob Gollihur's massive bass website, and general lutherie info at the Musical Instrument Maker's Forum.

My experience is shown at www.eclecticbass.com/eurb.html although I need to update it. It now has a K&K Big Twin under the short bridge and a Moses magnetic pickup.

I'd check out a bunch of the EUB makers' sites from my Double Bass Links Page - http://www.urbbob.com/basslink.html for inspiration and ideas. If you don't have a double bass, I'd get access to one for measurements and study. Following that, a full-scale drawing is probably the best way to go, before you start making sawdust.
