Case Opinions

I am soon to be buying a New Standard and am thus looking at cases/bags. I currently have a Cushy (Mooradian w/ different name) and am less than impressed. Two cases I have been looking are The Messina Bass Bag and The Upton Case (the nicer one, I forget the name).

I am looking for a case that will last a while and be protective especially in the snow and rain of Michigan.

Any opinions on these or others are welcome.

Thanks

A Cushy is not a Mooradian.

I use a Messina Bag on my Cleveland. It fits well and so far is doing fine. It's a bit over a year old. Lots of conversations on bags here I'd use the search and read what others say.

I also have a ProTec bag it fits well in. That is far more protective but has no shoulder strap and won't fold well. Good for long road trips when the bass is kicking around other gear. The Moradian is very stout and folds up very well when on the gig. The Messina is a bit more padded at the expense of some storage flexibility when on the gig. Many times I have to run it out to the van as there is no convenient place to stash it around the stage. It's halfway between the Moradian and the Protec in terms of flexibility for storage and protectiveness when in use.

All three bags are fine in the snow and rain.

no matter what case you use, i recommend to impregnate it with some impregnation-aerosol (sorry, i dont know the right word in english, hope you know what i mean)
thats what i do, and it helps me. (much rain in northern germany...)

edit: i use a soundwear professional, best case you can find here imho.
made in germany :-) , but also available in the usa:

bass bags

I use an Upton bag and have had very little trouble with
it. It has wheels, seems to be water resistant and is
about 3 years old. Take a look, you might like it. I do !

+1. I have the performer model, which is a bit less luxurious than the professional (runs about $450). It's heavy but very tough and has withstood alot of abuse I give it. I take the bass out of the house often for practice sessions, jams, etc. My last bag didn't last 6 months. This thing however is built pretty tough and seems good as new. I think I've had it for about a year now. Worth the $$$ IMO.

Hate to argue Arnold but...
on my Cushy Case it says "Cushy" under line "Bags & Covers"
and then in smaller letters "by mooradian"

Not the same thing but, same maker right?

By the way I am excited for that Cleveland to be coming my way

Thanks,
Ben
