Come and join CGQ at one of our favorite rooms in town. I think it is one of the best rooms to see local live jazz. We will also be recording all four dates in hopes of a forth-coming "Live at Pops" cd. Come out and support live music!!!

This is also an email that just went out from our manager:

Hey Everyone.
I have exciting news to share with you. Tune into WNUA 95.5 on Sunday, January 18, 2009 from 10pm-12Midnight. They will be spinning one of the original tunes from the Chris Greene Quartet during the Jazz Chicago Style Show.

For those of you not in the area, you can also listen live via the internet at:

Thanks for the URL Marc. I've been sorta wondering why I don't hear you on KPLU - you're certainly good enough!

Thanks Jake. We're really working hard with the help of a manager to raise the visibility of the group. We actually had a review in the January 2009 issue of Downbeat. We didn't get as many stars as we had hoped (2 1/2) but they did call us a "band is the process of becoming and capable of connecting." We've had a bunch of reviews from smaller 'zines and websites that were all very positive. From what I understand it is really hard for an unsigned band to get a review in Downbeat so we are pleased that they took notice.

I hear you Marc - the amount of effort it takes to get a band's profile noticed is phenomenal, no matter how talented. Keep at it!

Just a reminder that we will be at Pops for Champagne the next two weekends January 23, 24, 30, and 31. Be sure to say hi if you come out.

I posted a few things from Friday night at Pops here. Enjoy and feel free to put in your 2 cents.

For those interested the setup was as follows

tenor saxophone - Audio Technica AT35 Pro
piano - pair of AKG C-1000s
bass - Shure Beta 57a on an H-Clamp pointed at the E-side f hole
drums - pair AKG C-1000s overheads and a Shure Beta 52 for the bass drum

All this was running into a Presonus Firepod and then my Mac Powerbook Laptop. Recorded with Cubase. I kinda set basic levels, hit record and forgot about it. I did all the mixing after the fact.
