San Francisco/SF Bay Area had a pretty good scene recently, not sure what's going on right now, though.

Seattle, oddly enough has a good Rockabilly/alt/Americana scene. Maybe not the best, but they're pretty passionate.

I'm somehow under the impression its a thing in LA.
