| Considering the move to Austin, Texas..Anyone live there?
Hoping to get some advice from the bassists of Austin. I am a 29/year old male considering moving there within the next year and am just wondering what the scene is like for bassists. I have been playing professionally for about 5 years and while I am by no means at the top end of the spectrum, I have found it relatively easy to find work in the two cities I have lived in since college (charleston, sc and columbia, sc) and am just wondering about Austin. Music isn't the only reason I am considering the move, but would just like to get the perspective of some other TBers.
The first thing I do when I move to a city is get in contact with the university double bass professor(s) and take lessons and try to network.. Is that possible in Austin.. If not is there anyone that could be recommended to me coming into the town as a n00b?
