Or

I thought it was going to be the regular band, who sent a sub?

The best line I heard was from a guy who had someone send a sub that didn't quite work out. He told the cat who sent " I asked you to send a sub, not a destroyer..."

Forget bass playing. You guys should take THIS act on the road. Dick Smothers played bass right?

Hate to burst your bubble (sic) but I once did a gig on the flight deck of an Aircraft Carrier. The drummer was rushing so bad, the band just took off...

I played for over a year in the Oak Room at the Algonquin Hotel. That was special. Tony Bennett sat in and sang with us among lesser talents (cybil shepard). But the most incredible place I ever played was in the mess tent at ground zero for the workers who cleaned up the World Trade Center debris.

Is that the museum sub? If so, that thing freaks me out. I went on the "tour" through that thing, and 60 odd years later it still smells like diesel fuel and sailor B.O. ...just thinking about having to be in that thing when it was actually running gives me the heebie jeebies.

My folks took us there when i was a kid and it scared the **** out of me then. I thought the same as you did:"Why would anyone want to be underwater in that thing?" Same with the coal mine exhibit!

..and one of the captain's committed suicide on that thing. Actually he messed up and just injured himself severely so the crew had to kill him so the American ships wouldn't find them because of the screaming.

Yeah, it kinda bottomed out there with the captain's suicide/murder thing. I'm baffled. Screw that. With any luck, the depths will have already been mined, and we can get it back up to periscope depth.

In thinking about the whole music thing I got to thinking about how we get to play in places and see things that the general public don't get to see. Playing in front of a sub that is a piece of history (I think the only German U Boat captured) really got me thinking about how special an opportunity that was. What I was hoping was that others (like jason) would share some of the cool places they played.
