Current Earworms?

It's that little bit of OCD that just about everyone has... The ability for a song or part of a song to get stuck in one's head on repeat.

Does anyone have any such things currently looping in their heads? I almost always do, but mercifully it rotates from one song to another after a while, one earworm replacing another, so I don't go totally mad.

Right now, two that are in my head are the Andrews Sisters version of "You Call Everybody Darlin'" and the Tommy Dorsey version of "Song of India"

My Chemical Romance's "Teenagers" has been stuck for the last half hour. The line 'because the drugs never work" has been in my head since I started watching an episode of House.

I joined a big band last November, and we just pulled Dorsey's "Song of India" out of the notebook for an upcoming gig. I spent at least an hour listening to it today.

Oo very nice! I'm actually planning to try and transcribe the trumpet solo to guitar... I can vocalize it note-for-note Mills Brothers style (usually in my car) but I always feel silly...

Oh great now I have the Mills Brothers version of "Diga Diga Doo" stuck in my head... Gaaah...

I've got the Pat Metheny tune "James" stuck in heavy rotation. Caught myself whistling it in line at Starbucks, (much, I'm sure, to the annoyance of the other patrons).

I unconsciously whistle jazz tunes all the time, and I always thought it would be cool if a stranger heard me and recognized the tune (Pardon me, were you just whistling "Au Privave?") Hasn't happened yet.

Interesting, and I have the head to Alice in Wonderland running through my head right now.

Its interesting because no one is saying they have the fourth movement to Beethoven 9th running or a solo on Giant Steps.

I always seem to have simple tunes running, embarrassing simple, like the tune from the ice cream truck. Seems like this is others' experiences.

I am wondering, with this ever complex world of more and more to do and more and more to think about, that our brains are doing us a favor by running some simple, fun songs for our enjoyment. But, it has not gotten to polkas yet!

I am in real trouble.

Right now, alternately, "502 Blues" and, thanks to my daughter, a song from one of her "Care Bears" DVD's...

A year or two ago I had "Booglie Wooglie Piggy" (the Will Bradley & his Orchestra version, specifically) stuck in my head and was whistling it and someone recognized it.

Today I am listening to a lot of Four Seasons tunes to wipe my head clean of old earworms. A lot of their earlier stuff has double bass along with bass VI (sometimes doing the "tic tac bass" kinda thing).

I spent two days with Garth Brooks' "Looking for Love" stuck in my head, except it was the version sung by Eddie Murphy as Bu'weet on SNL, "Nooka pa Nub in ah da Mong Paces". Brutal. The only earworm cure I know of, and it's pretty drastic, is to remind yourself that it is, after all, a small, small world.
