Do you wear a wristwatch when playing?

I've been using a pocket watch for the past couple of years as I prefer to keep my wrists cllutter free, especially when playing. Recently though my pocket watch has begun running slowly and I can't seem to find a decent inexpensive, non-antiquey railroad motiff one, so I've considered going back to a wristwatch. I'm just not sure if I want something wrapped around my wrists right at the carpal tunnel area. Also being a lefty in a right-handed world I have adapted to wearing a wristwatch on either hand so both pizz/bow hand or fingering hand are optoins.

What do you bass players use for time? Wristwatch, pocketwatch or cellphone?

Below is my current pocketwatch, simple, easy to read but running slow

I wear a wristwatch, but take it off when I play. I also either take off my wedding ring or put it on my right hand.

I'd wear a pocketwatch, but for the expense of the vest and derby to go with it.

Cell phone...normally out on the music stand. Most of the time turned so I can't see the time on it, but there for in between tune checks.

I take it off when I play. Anything that can cause noises when you play is verboten: wristwatches, cufflinks, buttons, rings, etc.

I'm a righty and used to wear my wristwatch on my right hand. Don't ask me why, I just got used to do it that way. Guess it's because I used to be somehow ambidextrous. Dunno... However, I don't wear a wristwatch anymore because it's quite sunny down here and it left a really annoying tan line on my wrist. So I wear a pocketwatch now, It's a real simple one, victorinox that I "borrowed" from my father. I don't know if it runs slow, I don't care much 'bout the exact time... anyways... I forgot what the point was... but yeah... pocketwatch

Watch

I wear both my wedding band and a wrist watch most of the time when I'm playing. Doesn't seem to both me.

The hour hand is gut, but I had to go with a chromesteel minute hand because it was too muddy.

By the way, Hamilton still makes a pocket watch and check out the bass on their home page. Is that one of you guys?

I've tried the pocketwatch thing, mine died (). I've worn a writstwatch on and off for years, I lost track of it a few weeks ago though, not long after I got a cell phone which quite mercifully has the time on an outside display.

That said, I always took off my watch when I played, as it would drive me nuts to play with it on. I ran the risk of losing it a lot at Coffee Houses and gigs whenever I played electric. At almost all of my DB gig I was wearing a suit, though, so I'd just put it in the inside pocket of my jacket.

Just put on a watch and see how you like it. Simple as that.

I've got enough stuff in my pockets already, and the watch functions as my one piece of jewelry.

The watch always goes in my left pocket right before I tune up. I tried leaving it on, but I put a few nicks on the shoulder as I went into thumb position.

Wearing a watch doesn't bother me. Although I always forget to turn it 180 degrees that way I could see what time it is when playing.

Antique gold pocket watch, smaller size, that I restored. My jeans and slacks have a pocket watch pocket.

BTW, your Mondaine is repairable.

I wear a wrist watch except when Joëlle Léandre is around - she makes me take it off. A plain black Swatch I bought on tour in Austria.

No problem with a watch.
I find cuff links supremely annoying.

I have the black-face version of your Mondaine pocket watch and it's
completely dead. Most malls have a "Fast-Fix Jewelry Repair" shop that
will replace the battery for a few bucks

Colibri and Dakota have some reasonably priced clip-on watches. I use
this one till I get around to going to the mall to have the battery replaced
in my Mondaine

I wear a very thin wristwatch with a leather band and a wedding ring; neither bothers me when playing.

Can't stand lugging a cell phone around (but do so quite begrudgingly), but don't get me started on that topic. One now-necessary aspect of modern life I find particularly revolting.
