Double Bass Belt

Hey Guys,

My girlfriend wants to buy me a belt for my birthday. The problem is I need a belt with a buckle that isn't going to scratch up the bass. Can anyone point me to a belt that they like with some sort of "soft" buckle? I'm thinking of something like an all leather buckle or some other non-metal-non-scratch material.

Thanks,
Richard

PS. It needs to be black.. there are tons of all leather belts I've found in leopard print and brown western looking styles but I'm hoping to find something a little more modest.

I hope this is a put-on.

If not, didja ever think of sliding the buckle to the side while you play?

I don't think you're allowed to wear those suspenders unless you're on massive amounts of coke.

Actually, my first thought when I read "double bass belt" was something like a harmonica belt that you could strap use to strap a bunch of doublebasses to your body. Now that would be cool! It would also solve a few string choice indecision.

I just pull the buckle to my right so that it is under the furst loop. That way just the leather touches the wood.

I thought it was some kind of skill measurement system, like in Karate. Autumn Leaves at 120 bpm = green belt, Giant Steps st 300 bpm = black belt, etc.

See post #2.

EDIT: This thread is all brain surgery and rocket science stuff, but really......

It's a valid question - god knows I've got enough belt scratches on the back of every bass I've ever owned - but I've never found anything like that. I always try to remember to just move the buckle to the side, like bejoyous.

I thought it was some kind of martial arts ninja ****.

Personally I think wear builds character. Just ask any old guy. My only criterion is a buckle that won't get in the way or effect where the bass sits on my gut.

I got it for the same reason. Turns out to be the most comfortable belt I've ever worn, so I wear it all the time. All black. Buckle is a rubber ring. No metal or plastic to scratch anything. Passes through airport security. Cheap, too.
