Has anyone had dealings with these guys? I'm about to buy a double bass from them, but they pulled the auction from eBay because something was wrong and the guy says he'd rather do it out of eBay. Of course, this way eBay doesn't protect me, so I thought I'd get some feedback.

I know nothing about them - but what you describe is the classic "eBay" fraud - and what everybody tells you to avoid like the plague, unless you want to be scammed!!
