For those of you in the NYC area, or who might be planning on being in the NYC area - even if just for a minute -
The School for Improvisational Music is offering a couple of bass-centric workshops in July.
First is virtuoso
Mark Dresser on 1 July. From 4-6 PM, and the cost is $25.
Second is the seldom seen (or heard, though no less virtuostic)
Mike Formanek. That's on 22 July. Also from 4-6 PM, and also $25.
There will be a concert the evening of the 22nd as well with
MF, Tim Berne, and Tom Rainey.
It might not be a bad idea to sign up in advance for the workshops. You can do that at our
website. I don't think the July info is up yet, but it certainly will be soon. Or you can send me a PM, and I'll take care of the details.
