Here's an example of their new pricing for a double album set. 24 credits. Hmmm. 8 cuts on this, although they are long. No way you could download just a few tracks. There is only one option. I am curious, but I will skip it.

Not too happy with this deal, and changes in general, but still, since my pricing has remained consistent, I guess I will stay for awhile.

I'm not happy with the changes either. Been through a few with emusic. I can't even remember what I started out with but at one point I had 40 a month for 9.99. Then it went up to 11.99 but they also upped my downloads to 50 a month.. Now it's 30 a month for 11.99. Tired of the yo-yoing but I have discovered a lot of great independent artists there and continue to do so. The per-track price is still just under .40 a song for me so that's still a good deal. Maybe I wouldn't view it as a good deal if I was into stealing music but I'm not so it is.

I did pick up a couple of albums off the new addition stuff - The Clash and a Philip Glass addition.

I noticed they added the Weather Report catalog and some Herbie Hancock in addition to the stuff someone mentioned earlier.

EDIT: Wow...I just posted in the DB section...hurray for search results. Now I'm getting the heck outta here!

Ironically, emusic now has both the Britney Spears catalog and some Snoop Dogg available for download.

I am officially done with eMusic. I had a little back and forth with customer service and they seem quite comfortable with their direction.

Sony does it again.

OTOH, I just downloaded the entire Glenn Gould Golberg variations (33 tracks) for 12 credits, the new download manager put it right where it was supposed to go, and the artwork was automatically picked up as well...

On the other OTHER hand, for jazz their new album only thing SUCKS.

I wanted to download Roy Haynes We Three tonight. As an aside this is an OJC that for a number of years you could catch in bins for 6.99. Loaned it to someone and never got it back.

To download all 6 tracks (most of which were only 4 minutes long), I am going to be charged for 12. Lets see, at $14 for 30 downloads, that album cost me more than the CD did.

Pitiful.

I think the album pricing is misleading and frankly sucks. It's not across the board but varies by label. Some of the albums you could get for 5 or 6 credits before are now 12 credits and some of them that may have 19 or 20 cuts are still 19 or 20 credits. Plus there's no way to download a box set piecemeal over several months. At this point it's academic for me. I closed my account today.
