| Fun on Friday
Last Friday I met up with my main man Jon at the Winter Garden at the World Financial Center for the MONKATHON; celebrating the birthday of Thelonious Sphere Monk (which they're going to do for the next ten years, which leads up to the centennial of his birth).
We caught Randy Weston, Mulgrew Miller, Aaron Diehl, Edsel Gomez, Ted Rosenthal, Frank Kimbrough and Pete Malinverni. Mulgrew and Malinverni were particularly happening.
I missed (it started at 5) Armen Donelian and Helen Sung and missed (since I couldn't hang for it all, it went til 10:30) Larry Willis, Junior Mance, Jean-Michel Pilc\and Geri Allen.
All for free....
