I've seen that interview before. Funny Stuff. Can you imagine sitting in somewhere and having Sonny Stitt show up, Reggie Workman on bass and be rescued by Max Roach. Jeez.

When I was in my teens, I was sitting in with a great vibist when Dave McKenna and 3 others (same level) came in. They called two tunes: Bernie's Tune (up) and Lover Come Back to Me (even more up). Two tunes, 40 minutes. I expected to die, but somehow I played beyond my rational ability.
