Horrible day

My C string snapped to day because of improper instalation. It turns out it has been wearing on the string for a couple months now. On top of that my C put a huge crack in my E stop during the break. It is flimsy and is worthless now.

On a brighter side I noticed that my bass is worlds louder with only 3 strings and in solo tuning.

Actualy come to think of it it is a great day. My bass has never been more loud. 3 strings is awsome. From now on when I play a solo I'm taking off my E. I resonate like a cello or a violin Though I havn't had solo strings on in many months and my fingers are adjusting to the extra tension. But wow!! For the concerto competition next year I'm going to 3 string it. Like Bottesini himself.

It may just mean your bass likes lower tension.
Maybe you could use four light gauge strings.
If you play solo and orchestra tunings, Jargar Dolces may be a good choice for you?

Mine sure does. It turns into an absolute cannon when I put Animas on there. Kind of shocking actually.

I was thinking it meant my responds better to higher gage. B/C I normaly use Helicore Arco Lights. My Solo's are mediums.

Right now still waiting for my helicor long E to get here. RIght now it is a 3 string with solo's on and it is loud as hell. I love it. I know realize why Bottesini himself prefered the 3 string bass.
