I know some people use regular units, but being musicians, we usually measure using intervals on a piano. Also, if you think age might be a factor, go ahead and say that too.
I'll go first: I can stretch a P11 on a keyboard, but it's only practical for me to stretch for a Maj. 10th.
Edit: I'm 16, so my hands might not be at full size yet.

You know, once PW gets a load of this, he's gonna have to be the biggest, the best and the smartest.......so why not say a length of 11 inches and a width of 4.5? Just in case he starts intimidating with his "go time" Sienfeld stuff. Yeah. That's what I'm going with.

My hands merge seamlessly into my wrists and there is no cut-off point!! Thankfullly!!
If I stretch my thumb and fingers out as far as possible - then there is a distance of at least 9 inches between the tip of my thumb and the tip of my smallest finger. I might be able to stretch a bit more with practice!!

To answer the question: on the piano, a usable major 10th, or an 11th that plays an extra note with the thumb and hurts. By the rules, 9 3/8" from tip of pinkie to tip of thumb. None of which means much, because it's all about technique in the end. |

Proper technique of course will help you stretch. |

My response "Big gloves?"
The look of confusion was worth the price of admission.
I'll be here all week. Try the veal. |

| | | | My left hand is 26 cm tip to tip (about 10.2 inches) The more interesting thing is that my left hand is about 1 cm longer than my right. I guess all that stretching in first position paid off. |

It's kind of a point of pride that playing bass has caused my hand to open so much. I can comfortably play a tenth on the piano, and can reach an eleventh. |

Okay, since you guys are all timid and are skating around ground zero, I'll do it.
Godammit, my hands are BIG. My fingers are LONG. My shoe size is a 12. My bass is a healthy 7/8. My arms and legs are LONG.
My **** is GIGANTIC.
