How do These Bags Compare?

Not really sure where to post this....... I am trying to find a bag that will fit a large 7/8 no name plywood bass. I have found bags online that I think will fit, made by Ritter, TKL and Mooradian. If the Mooradian standard bag will fit, all of these are in about the $250 range.

Does anyone know about the relative quality and durability of the bags made by these 3 companies?

Thanks,
Bill Colbert

I am not an expert by any means, but I believe all three companies are reputable. I feel that most everyone here would tell you to go with the Mooradian. From what I have seen online, they will make you a custom bag specificlly to fit your instrument. I think that the customs are a bit more than the 250, but well worth it.

One I would add would be the Bobelock bag, which compares to the Mooradian in every way and costs much less.
G/L!

I also go for the Mooradian, although I have not tried the others mentioned. One thing to consider is where handles and shoulder strap ends are mounted. I find the Moor. acceptable, but not ideal in this aspect. I have had other bags that had such poorly located handles/strap mounts that the bass was really difficult to carry and maneuver. I would choose a lesser quality bag that is easy to transport over a really well made one that screws up my back on the way to a gig!

+1 for Mooradian. I haven't seen anything else hold up to continued use and abuse like those bags do. Mooradian bags are an excellent value in the long term.

I have a fairly-expensive, thickly-padded TKL bag, and it's absolute junk. It has done nothing but fall apart, including the zippers, which are particularly crappy. TKL's customer service is non-existent. Don't waste your money.

Soundwear

Does anyone have any experience with the Soundwear bags?
I've seen a local player using one here in SD.

They are expensive but appear to be very well made.

i used to have a soundwear performer for the AS cleveland i had for a while. that's a big bass too--it was a great case-lots of pockets, good handles, straps, etc.. built like a tank. i used it daily and i don't think i wore anything out on it. the nice thing was it was grey/silver so for outdoor gigs it wouldn't soak up the sun and cook my bass! to me, the price is justified.

+1 for the Bobelock. I actually think they are better than the Mooradians and cost less. Plenty of padding but they are lightweight and fold up very nicely.
