How would i do something like this?

Is it possible to somehow modulate the pitch of a recording i've made with my upright, so as to emulate a cello and/or violin? If so, what equipment would be needed to do so? The only recording gear i currently own is a Boss BR-532. Just curious. It probably won't sound very good, but it'd be fun to experiment with. Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks,

Dane

If you have Nero Cd burning software, there is a utility in the Wav recording program to do that. It will do it without changing tempo.

Hope this helps.

Sonic Foundry makes a "Home Studio" version of their Sound Forge software. I use another version at work to manipulate sound. You can change pitch, volume, fade in and out, and cut, copy and paste notes just like words in a Word document. If you work often with sound, it might be worth the investment.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'd like to do it without altering the tempo, so those programs sound ideal. However, i'd rather not use my computer. Would it be possible to do it with something else?

Why not just play it on a cello or a violin, if that's the sound you want?

Tascam makes a playback/practice cd device called a CD-GT1. It may do what you want. I think you can raise a sound a whole step.

About $150 street price.
