Humidity Controller for DB

I was speaking to a fellow bassist the other day and he mentioned that there is such a thing as a humidity control device you can place inside the bass to, well, control the humidity. -lol- Do any of my fellow DB'ers use a device such as this, and if so, what is your experience with them, and where can they be obtained?

I think what you are referring to is a Damp-it. It is just a rubber tube about a foot long with holes in the side and some type of water absorbing material in the center. If used properly, they can be a good way to keep the humidity up in the dry winter time. The problem is that many people try to put too much water in the Damp-it and it drips inside the bass and causes damage. They are available at most music, violin or luthiers shops.
