I can't get enough of Corelli

Especially the christmas suite, this time of year. My orchestra are doing a version of Concerto Grosso, No. 8... That allegro section in III. wow.

Anyone else love this composer? Or any music from around that period for that matter?

When I was in college I played in the Chamber Orchestra and the conductor had a fondness for Corelli. I remember one particular concert we did at Christmastime, it was break so there weren't alot of students around. We played the #8 in a church and I remember to this day how just absolutely moved I was what with the ambience of the church, the music and the snow falling outside. It was like a dream. Afterwards, I was walking the several blocks back to the music building through the snow with that beautiful music going through my head. I'll always remember that.

Corelli's concerti grossi are some of my all-time favorites. When I played in the chamber orch. our conductor always pulled those out. No. 2 in F was the one we played the most. I have those, Bach's Brandenberg concertos and Vivaldi's Four Seasons on a playlist on my PC. I can't listen to them enough.
