Anyone else going? | That's right, quite the line up at IAJE this time, really looking forward to it! I am playing there with the Henry Mancini Institute Alumni big band, with a major guest to be confirmed (probably Wynton Marsalis). Look me up... it will be a fun hang.

Who's going?
I'll be the presiding chair (That is a fancy title for announcer/moderator)at a couple of exciting sessions.
1. Saturday, 1/13 1:00 pm. Balance, the role of the modern bassist w/ Brian Bromberg
2. Saturday, 1/13 5:00 pm. New Trends in Latin Jazz w/ Oscar Stagnaro

Tommorow I must pick up my pass so I can hang. JazzBass and the Doctor... hope to see you. Any TB cats please stop by and say hello... Frank Wilkins on piano is definitely worth checking out, he makes even me sound good. With such a crowd the singers should be interesting. |

the Henry Mancini Institute folded, so the Alumni big band concert I was supposed to play ended up falling through.
However, tonight (Thursday 11th) I will be involved in a 30 minute showcase with talented young singer Sachal Vasandani (who's recently been signed by Mack Avenue Records), right between a duo concert by John Clayton with his son Gerald on piano, and a Rashied Ali set. It's all FREE, so come hang!
Here's the info and schedule:
Gail Boyd Showcase @ AC Pianocraft,
333 W. 52nd Street (Between 8th and 9th Aves)
Thursday, Jan 11th
Clayton "father and son" duo:
Two sets at 8:15pm and 9:45pm
Sachal Vasandani Group:
one set only, 10:30pm-11pm
then Rashied Ali's group will end the evening.
Hope to see you guys there.
-Marco
