For all of our German speakers (I don't know how many there are here!), I found an interesting
and bass-oriented podcast. The subject of the podcast is a fellow named Friedrich Witt, who also narrates. He was apparently Solokontrabass of the Berliner Philharmoniker in the early days of Herbert von Karajan and pre-Rainer Zepperitz.
It pertains mostly to his history as a bassist as well as arbitrary musings and interesting events in his 40 years in the orchestra.
The podcasts are available at his website and, of course, on itunes. They are in German, but I can offer a summation of each episode, if necessary.
