Intoducing Mathias Theodore Sypher

Hey all. Just to announce the latest member of the talkbass community.
Mathias was born on Sunday March 25, 7:59 am, 6 pounds 5 ounces. Huge hands with long fingers...we are proud! I'm already practicing with him in the sling. He loves it. First tunes: Georgia On My Mind and Paper Moon. Dig!

Congratulations! The world will never look quite the same. How long will it be before you slip him in a bow quiver and take him to a gig?

Ahh sweet. He's perfect.

Welcome to the world of no sleep, perpetual feeding and relentless poo.

Our boys are 9 days apart. Great year to be born.

Where did you get the sling for a baby that size? I need such a beast.

LOL, that's pretty funny. Wait til you're walking the mall carrying a flowery diaper bag and your wife's purse at the same time, with a couple of juice boxes duct taped to your chest.

Many congrats! They're really cool when they hit oh about 12 years old.

GAH!!!...you too? My sister in law made one of those for Ian that was not only flowery, but PURPLE and flowery. Many's the time I caught a reflection of myself in a shop window with a baby and that purple bag hanging off of me, not to mention the obligatory burpup stains on the left shoulder of whatever shirt I happened to be wearing at the time.

Yep, I'm pretty sure I looked REAL cool back then, too.

My suggestion about passing mirrors and shop windows while carrying one of those diaper bags:

Slinging it

"Once upon a time in a land far, far away there was a bassist named Jimmy Blanton. Now this bass player was not like the other bass players, no! This bass player could play great time with a huge sound AND play....melodies! And he was loved and feared by all the other bass players..."

My kid went to sleep for years listening to an Ellington/Blanton Years CD. Something must have happened; he was second-call all-state tenor this year.

Bravo to all three of you, JS. "I hear that train a-comin . . . " and the best is definitely yet to come.

Congrats Jason. Enjoy!!!

I have two of my own. You definitely have to give up being cool to the rest of the world but it is made up for by your kids thinking you are the coolest person ever.

Hey, congrats on the n00b. And I like the Jimmy Blanton story.
