Isle of Man Double Bass Competition

Does anyone have any information on the Isle of Man Double Bass Competition in 1978? I've googled it and come up with a commisioned set piece - the David Ellis Sonata for solo double bass, and a couple of prize winners, but nothing on whether it was part of a festival or festival on it's own, how long it went for, where it was held, if anyone famous attended, etc.

It took place at the Erin Arts Centre, Port Erin Isle of Man. I was a 13 year old kid at the time playing double bass in the Manx Youth Orchestra so it was quite a treat.
I have vivid memory of all the competitors playing "the elephant" on Port Erin prom conducted by a guy on an inflatable elephant which was filmed by the BBC
