Isolating a bass with Sandbags

Hi guys,

I've read several threads now about trying to quiet a bass (yes I live in an apartment and want to practice late). Seeing that some guys have recommended bird shot (BBs that is) when trying to isolate a bass from the floor, I remembered that some companies sell such shot in small burlap sacks. It made me think... Sandbags? Neat, clean, and simple. Has anyone tried it?

I just got my first complaint the other night but still really love playing at 1am. I have a rubber mute on order and looking for different ways to muffle the sound without having to put carpeting on the walls (kinda hard when you have loft ceilings).

Thanks.
