Isolation

Odd question...

If you built a stand out of two pieces of plywood with some kind of vibration-absorbing material between them and made it large enough to stand on with the bass in playing position...

...would isolating the vibration from the bass via. the endpin from reaching the floor the floor...

...so practicing wouldn't be as noticable in an apartment?

This run-on sentance was brought to you by the letter P.

I think two salad-plate sized pieces of ply or other stiff material with a layer of some elastomer between them would do just fine. I'd suggest a soft urethane for the vibration absorbing layer. You could also use a silicone gel.

I had to buy a house. I have heard that your more concrete high-rise buildings may be more soundproof. You might also try finding a place where you don't share all walls, or your neighbors are gone when you practice, a garage apartment or something like that. Isn't feeling uncomfortable practicing a drag.
