I just got this new book by Dave Hunt. He profiles among others; Red Mitchell, Oscar Pettiford, Milt Hinton, Doug Watkins, P.C., Mingus, George Duvivier etc.
Hunt goes into tremendous depth about their lives, careers and playing styles. It is available on Amazon and I am sure other places as well. I recommend it.
