I'm playing drums in an open jazz jam in Dallas every Tuesday night, 8-11, at Maple Point B&G, 5415 Maple Ave, two blocks off Inwood.
The jam is geared mainly toward singers, and we get several good ones, but we also welcome instrumentalists, and we're getting everything but bassists, hence my post here.
September is geared toward players. Our guest artist last week was Marchel Ivery, and we played more instrumentals than usual, and the crowd loved it. I expect more of the same the next two weeks. Next Tuesday, the 19th the guest is Freddie Jones, one of Dallas's premier trumpet players. The 26th our guest will be Shelley Carrol, tenor sax heavyweight.
