Jazz Major?

I am 16 and a Junior in High School. I've been playing the bass for about 5 years both DB and EB and feel that I am pretty good on the bass. I can sightread well, read chord symbols, walk, slap, etc and have received accolades from several jazz professors/judges at jazz festivals. I was wondering how hard is it to audition for a jazz major. So far I'm looking at the following schools: San Francisco State, CSU Humbolt, and (if I'm good enough) columbia. I would also like to either minor or double major in botany so I need to go to a school that is good in both areas. If you know of any other good jazz schools feel free to tell me too.
Feel free to ask me questions
Thanks so much

I'm a Jazz major right now at community college mostly attributed to my apathy but more about my fiscal position when I graduated high school last year, I'm enjoying my time here.

I was in a similar position you were in when I graduated. However let me tell you that the schools you are looking at aren't the greatest Jazz school. Eugene Novotney up in Humboldt will treat you right and SF is more about pleasure than playing. But if you are TRULY serious about being a jazz bassist you should look into UCLA (don't know the bass instructor), Northridge (Gary Pratt, very much a purist) and Cal Arts (IMO the greatest bass staff on the west coast, Alphonso Johnson, Darek Oleszkiewicz and Charlie Haden). Check it out and I hoped this helped.
