Where the hell is Charlotte, Georgia? I'm FROM Georgia and I don't know. You sure you're not talking about Charlotte, NC?

I said "Ha Ha".
Sorry, Simpsons reference.

Well, for the straight scoop you oughta e-mail Ron Brendle, he's a great bassist/composer who lives and works out of Charlotte.

The last time I was in Charlotte (which was the mid 90s) they had one major venue (which I hear has bagged) downtown and a number of "minor" venues that would feature jazz one or more times a week. I think that there were a number of "aural wallpaper" gigs that you could play jazz on (restaurants and ****) and some clubdate kind of gigs that would hire "jazz". There's the local performing arts theatre that has a jazz performance program that not only uses soem of the heavy local cats but also brings in national and some international jazz acts.

With all that, it still ain't NYC. Most of the folks I know that gig there, do klezmer gigs, pop gigs, bar mitzvah/wedding/private party stuff and teach and work day jobs cause it's hard for a bassplayer out there...
