Jazz teacher in the DC area

A friend who lives in the Washington D.C. area is looking for a teacher but is somewhat computer challenged and shy, so I thought I'd try to help him out. He's a functioning jazz player who's just now getting into thumb position. He's looking for a jazz teacher who can help him understand jazz harmony by analyzing the changes, build better and more melodic lines, and help him with his soloing concept. He's a nice guy but not a kid, and he's looking for someone who will help him with these concepts without putting a lot of dogma on top of the subjects mentioned but rather will listen to what he's trying to accomplish and work with him on it (he requested pizz only, which I can understand but plenty of people have issues with).

If anybody knows of good people to recommend to him, please reply or send me a PM.

What about Tom Baldwin (T-Bal) who used to post here on occasion? He was in DC back in the day.

Victor Dvoskin in Silver Spring is very good. I can also say I've heard Tom Baldwin is good, though he's very busy.

I'm not sure if he teachers, but I always wanted to study with Steve Novosel. There's also a bunch of guys who advertise on craigslist and seem to know what they are doing. I'll see if I can remember any of their names.

Yeah, he's still in the area. I'm currently taking lessons from him.
