I think you missed the bit of sarcasm I intended.

I don't think it's Ken's intention to build a larger membership than TB.

His forum looks like the early days of TB. Man, those were good days...

I think it's great that Ken has taken on this initiative. It is unrealistic to think that one website can be everything to everybody, and the internet is certainly big enough for other forums. Historically, other bass forums have started up in direct response to what users feel they saw lacking in TalkBass - for example another forum out there has almost no language rules, allowing mature cursing etc in response to our fairly strict profanity rules. This is just fine with me - just as I work to make TalkBass what I believe it should be, so others have every right to do the same.

In the case of Ken's forum, he's requiring real names for usernames and wants it to be a tighter, smaller, forum. It's an interesting idea and I think it'll work well for him. As I told Ken, I think it'll end up being a valuable asset to him as an entrepreneur and as a bassist.

Forgive me Jeff, but Ken Smith threads in Misc seem to be cursed to spiral downward, and this one is showing the early signs. I don't want this to turn into another shootout between the two camps with more insults thrown, so I think it's best to close this.
