Question Live Jazz in Vegas?

I will be in Las Vegas next week for a business convention (9/16-9/18) as was wondering if there are any live jazz venues in town.

I am looking for straight ahead or classic jazz.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Check around town for Wayne De Silva... a great saxist originally from Hawaii. Here's a clip; http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu...elID=272600169

Also keep your eyes open for Jess Gopen, a great drummer also from Hawaii.

Say hi from Marcus if you see either one of 'em.

You might want to check out bassist Morrie Louden

I have not heard/seen him play, but I have heard he is very impressive. I think he's back and forth between Vegas and NYC. His itinerary is out of date on the website, but there might be an email address you could reach him at. Hey, you might even ask for a lesson, if he's not gigging.

I don't know where the music is hiding, I was in Vegas last summer and didn't hear ANY music much less any jazz. there was one casino that had a duo of upright and piano, but it was mostly easy listening stuff. That was it.

Unfortunately, you were correct. There was nothing to hear in Vegas. One restaurant had a solo piano player playing light standards, but that was it.
