Loesser tunes?

It's Frank Loesser's 100th today... anybody planning on busting out one of his tunes tonight on the bandstand? If so, which one?

If I had a gig, I'd play If I Were a Bell

I'm actually watching the movie version of "How to Succeed..." right now. Love his lyrics...

You have the cool, clear eyes of a seeker of wisdom and truth
Yet there's that slam, bang tang reminiscent of gin and vermouth

Someone should do a record: "The Greater Songs of Frank Loesser".

I've never
been in love before
Now all at once it's you,
it's you forever more.
I've never
been in love before
I thought that I was safe,
I thought I knew the score.

Now all at once
it's all too strange and strong,
I'm full of foolish song,
and out this song must pour.

so please forgive
this helpless haze I'm in
I've never really been
in love before....

Why? I used my Google finger and came up with three I know (not including the ones already mentioned).
I'm thinkin' anybody who writes a tune called "I like red back salmon" is a composer who I can't get with. Ughh......

I know that this rendition of Loesser's "Bubbles in the Wine" will change your mind, surely...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jaosn-LkOjw

ps It's "hump-backed", not "redback"... surely you can appreciate a song with "hump" in the title??

Never Will I Marry is one I like pretty well. This is a real cool Nancy Wilson version with Cannonball's band. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glOd6g-iofE

Thumbs up

Yep, Z...... "n'waterful, n'waterful." "Pee on yer toes" "Take A trian" and all that wonderful stuff.
EDIT: Eli, IMO, Cannonabll could make anything sound good.

"I read in a biography of Loesser that his wife #2 Jo Sullivan was not popular among Frank's cronies, and she was referred to as "the evil of two Loessers." I'm sure he laughed."

Heard Terry Gross on Fresh Air interview Michael Feinstein yesterday in tribute to Loesser's 100th, and I think he said that Loesser himself used that phrase to describe an album he did singing with his first wife, Lynne.
