Midi controllers

Perhaps someone here can answer this question for me.

So, I have been trying to buy a midi keyboard recently because I think it will make all of my sibelius work go quite a bit faster. I bought the M-Audio Keystation 49e which, of course, I got home and couldn't get to work. After several hours on the phone with the tech guy from M-audio I found out that it wouldn't work with my laptop because of the bus configuration of laptops.

Does anyone know of a midi keyboard that will work with my laptop (IBM r51)? My only preference is velocity-sensitive, or semi-weighted, or whatever they call them, keys.

thanks,
Eric
