Mike Huckabee plays bass.

I saw a picture of Mike Huckabee playing bass in the newspaper today. If you search You Tube there's a bunch of clips of him playing. He's not bad, sort of "weekend-warrior" level of playing. He's still a dad-gum Republican though!

My first year being able to vote.... I think I'll give it to the bassist. It would sway me more if he played double bass... but he must be a great man if he plays the bass

You play country music and live in Tennessee! You're supposed to be a Republican, too! (Just like I'm supposed to be a Republican because I live in a red state and can sometimes be caught watching Nascar or shooting clay pigeons with one of several shotguns. Not bloody likely.)

Politics are verboten here but I cannot sit idly by and let you vote for a presidential candidate because he plays the bass. Please learn something about his policies.... or tell me you were kidding.

Even kooky, ignorant rapist-pardoning goober preachers can play the bass.

I didn't see a smiley face next to that statement. Obviously it was intended as a political slam against Huckabee.

Now listen Jeremy, I play all types of music (How do you think that son of mine heard all that jazz growing up? )Yes, I may live in Nashville and I even like some country music, but I grew up playing R&B in Philly, PA, and I'm a dyed-in-the-wool, Yankee liberal, dad-gum-it! Seriously, Nashville isn't all "red" by any means. Al Gore lives here for chrissakes! And it isn't all country music either -- musicians like Victor Wooten, Edgar Meyer, Jim Ferguson, Jeff Coffin and Chester Thompson all live in Nashville, too. So stop stereotyping already!

BTW, some of my best friends are Republicans

TalkBass forums Rule #3: "Controversial topics will be VERY closely moderated. Politics and religious debate/discussion are not allowed in any forum unless specifically allowed by the forum's posted rules ("sticky" threads)."

Direct quote, but I added the emphasis myself.

Sorry to be the bad guy, but if we go any further down the political path with anything less than light hearts and a full load of mirth, this thread is history...

Sorry folks! It was just interesting to see Mike Huckabee playing bass. I shouldn't have added the "dad-gum" comment! It was intended as joke. Really I'd say, "Whatever your political persuasion, make sure to get out and vote!"

No, it was strictly personal.

The cult of Chuck Norris is infinitely fascinating. David Carradine never got so much love.

I just saw Huckabee on the news playing a nice Tobias bass. Said his band opened up for Willi Nelson, and Charli Daniels in the past.

I'll bet he'd play the purple piccolo if he thought it'd get him in!

Stop talking about me
I've not been on the pulpit for some time now.
