Thanks, guys.

Montreal is a new one to me....

I've heard that North Texas is good, but more focused on jazz. Is that true?

What have y'all heard about TSU? It's my second choice at the moment, but I don't really know a whole lot about the bass prof./ orch. director.

NT does have a large jazz program but that is just a part of the whole music school. As a bassist there are two great bass profs there (Lynn Seaton and Jeff Bradetich). Here is a link to the music ed dept:

I don't know anything about TSU.

asparagustus - UT Austin music ed department is great! My wife just graduated from it and could tell you a whole lot more about it than me. If going into public school teaching is your thing, then check it out... the faculty is amazing. The UT String Project also provides good hands-on experience.

Thank you to those who responded! I'll definitely look into those schools.
