betcha that's it..she said he spoke of a long sideman career, then venturing out on his own later on.
She said he was articulate, soft spoken, humble, etc..
I was pretty sure it wasn't the infamous g.simmons intereview..

thanks Marcus..

Was not Charlie Haden on NPR? Or was in Democracy Now!? Or both?

Charlie Haden on Fresh Air

I did hear part of the Charlie Haden interview on Terry Gross' "Fesh Air" show in the last year. Since it's pledge drive week for a lot of station, they tend to run bits of old shows at odd times.

Haden was on democracy now recently. It was a pretty interesting interview.

I seem to remember a very good interview with Gary Karr on "Fresh Air", too.

I never realized how bass-friendly NPR is.

NPR has incredible variety, which is why NPR is my favorite of major journalism outlets. NPR will talk about the things other journalists shed light on (foreign affairs, politics, sports, etc.), and they will also talk about everyday people in the world. They feature musicians, artists, small business owners, and small towns of 300 people far more than the other guys.

Hey Aaron,

KPLU or KUOW?

I agree, by the way, and we're lucky in Western Washington to have 2 excellent NPR stations. I've have my preferences, but...
