Talking A Pee Dub thanks to TB.......

Feeling a bit warm and gooey this cold and snowy Colorado Christmas morning, I guess.
I just wanted to thank all you guys for all the personal, musical, bassiscal and just plain friendship that you've shown over this past year or so.
I spend a lot of time here for several reasons. I use it as a teaching tool with my students at almost every lesson. I use it as a hang with close friends I've made here over the last almost seven years, none of which I've met in real life except ones that have come in on my advice. I even have some students who I teach over the phone and in PM's through this site with no money involved for reasons that I really can't tell you here.
I could go on and on about how valuable this site is to me in so many ways but I don't do "gooey" real good.
Anyway, my personal thanks to all TB members (Yeah, I even got some pork-chopper buddies out there).
Happy Holidays to one and (almost) all.
EDIT: Check it!.....no asterisks for swear words and no smiley faces!! (except in the header).

Paul, as I have mentioned to you before, I heard you many times in Denver in 1977-8 before you moved out to San Francisco. Without a doubt you are the real deal. I am sure I am speaking for others when I say that you are one of the big reasons I keep coming back to check Talk Bass on a several-times-a-day basis. The fact that you are not a slave to political correctness makes your contributions that much more meaningful to me. Thanks for all you do.

Merry Christmas to you Paul and all friends on TBDB. It's about 70 degrees here. We have a full house both boys are home and the waves are huge! Too big to ride. Just playing music as a family and enjoying the warm and fuzzies. It's been a great pleasure getting to know you. Oh Yeah, almost forgot, Larry Dunlap and Noel Jewkes from San Fran. said to say hi.

I'm home alone today watching the snow fall from the comfort of my big leather chair by the fire. Listening to the playback from a great private gig last night with lots of great food, drink and new friends I am fully in the Christmas spirit. Reflecting on this past year and all that the new one brings, I wish the best to everyone here in our little internet hang. Paul Warmbuttocks especially.
The very best to all!

Thanks, Trey. And God **** Hawaii.

Noel and Larry...Ha! I did an old vinyl with Larry and his beautiful wife, singer Bobbe Norris. "Close Up" I think 'twar the title. Anyway, Larry did this chart on "Out Of This World" in a Latin 7. We nailed the chart on the first take, but Andy Narell....the Jazz steel drum player, who happened to be the engineer on the date said "Whoa...what's that buzz?" The bass was going direct to the board and the buzz was coming outta my PU. He fixed the wire and shrink tubed it. Everybody got all pissed 'cause we dug the take. Andy said "No biggy. We just put Paul back in his booth and let him do his part over on top of you guys'".
So here I am, reader of maybe the first page of Simandl (the one with the open strings). watching about ten of the best players in the Bay Area through my booth window praying I can nail this ******* bear of a bass part alone so they can keep their **** intact and not have to do it again. I was sweatin' bullets but I pulled through and saved the day. (as usual).
Damn, I miss SF.

Great story Paul reminds me of others that I'll save for another time. Funny about how the studio is like a large microscope! You either got the goods or you don't. You of course, got the goods!

Take Care & Again Have a Very Merry

Wink

After all the crankiness, sarcasm and bile that I've gotten used to in the four years I've been posting here, this thread is making me a bit ill, although it might be the twenty dates stuffed with blue cheese I ate tonight. Anyway, I enjoy all of your company and insights and have learned a lot and hope I have brought something to the table, too.

You guys are the best and I wish you the same, now and in 2010!

Peace

Eric
