Playing with kids is great!

My cousin who's 12 and plays violin has talked me into joining the church choir she's in... about thirty kids about 6-16 including the pianist and another violinist, except for the middle-aged choir director and a guitarist who looks to be in his early 20s. I'm 31. It's a surprisingly fun and certainly simple enough. I mostly thump roots and sometimes root-fifth lines to make it easy for the singers to find the beat so they'll sing with confidence. The director wants to do some string arrangements of Christmas carols as well so then I'll play fancier parts probably written for cello.

Any experiences or stories about playing with people much younger?
