Playing at Montreux - need a double bass

Hi,

wasn't sure which section to post this in so chose Misc.

I'm playing with the South London Jazz Orchestra at the Montreux Jazz Festival this year (July) . I don't want to travel with my bass. I only have the one and I can't risk losing it or having it damaged.

I'd like to borrow or hire a bass while in Montreux for 2 to 3 days. I tried contacting a music shop in Montreux but didn't get any aknowledgement or reply. We most likely would want to borrow/hire a drum kit too.

Is there anyone on this forum who could help or put me in touch with someone who could. Thanks,

RB

Thanks for the suggestion but there was no listing for Switzerland and not even anything in the nearest French region . Don't suppose there's a Swiss bass forum...??

Most major festivals can provide you with a bass if you ask in advance. Have you tried contacting the festival or having whoever is dealing with them directly ask to see if this is possible? I would bet you are not the only bassist to ask, especially with the current situation with airlines. Usually it can be added to the group's tech rider. Festivals like this are used to providing backline and drum sets, so why not a bass?
