Pop songs from the 2000s with I IV V changes

I'm a graphic designer by trade, and as part of my presentation at an upcoming conference I'll be talking about the similarities between design and songwriting.

I'm going to mention the durability of the I IV V (or I V IV) construction in pop songs throughout the decades. Examples include: "I Fought the Law" (Bobby Fuller, '60s), "Baba O'Reilly (The Who, '70s), 500 Miles (The Proclaimers, '80s), Mmm Bop (Hanson, '90s).

Now I just need something from the Aughts, '00s, or whatever you prefer to call the years from 2000-2009.

Any suggestions? It needs to be a fairly obvious example and a well-known song.

Thanks!

Marc

Norah Jones

How about "Dont Know Why"; I don't have it in front of me but if memory serves, the refrain is vi7 V7/V (or II7) IV/Vpedal I. Which would qualify as a derivative of ii v i.

Are you talking 1 !V V in blues form? Because with the thousands of songs that follow that, odd that you'd mention Baba O'Reilly since it isn't one of them.

Or do you mean songs that just have those 3 chords? Because "I Fought The Law" has a bridge.

Or do you just mean songs with the 1 and 1V and a V? In that case the list would be hundreds of pages long. So I'm not getting the point of this thread.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. To clarify, the entire song needn't use only I IV V chords (although that's fine), but they should be combined in some way in a prominent, memorable part of the tune, e.g., the chorus.

Someone on the BG side supplied a great example: Jimmy Eat World's "The Middle," which is I V IV throughout.

Seems to me you'd have a harder time identifying pop songs that aren't predominantly I IV V...
