Professor Jeremy Allen - congratulations!

Jeremy Allen was recently hired as the full time jazz bass professor at Indiana University. Unlike Indiana's basketball and football programs of late, the jazz studies program really *is* something to write home about, and landing the jazz bass gig at one of the most prestigious music schools in the country (and certainly the leader in the midwest) is a great accomplishment and a great statement about our own soft spoken moderator and statesman. Congratulations man, you deserved it and I know you'll thrive in your new gig*.

* Provided you can steer clear of recruiting violations, that is. No more texting 8th grade jazz bass virtuosi out of season, m'kay?

Thanks, guys! I'm pickled tink. If anyone can point me in the direction of a good wholesaler of blazers with suede patches on the elbows, or give me some idea of what a good beginner's pipe tobacco is, I'm all ears.

As for recruiting violations...I can't help it if some Jazz Boosters want to pay my students $150/hr to break in their brand new cars for a semester or two! Collegiate jazz is big business, after all...

J Press is where all preppie things begin and end.

Pipe tobac is a whole nuther thing.

You could just avoid that and smoke weed. I think that is just as appropriate for a fully knighted egghead.

Hmmm pipe tobacco... as a college professor you might like Albert Einsteins favourite blend "Revelation" (no joke):

On the other hand, a traditional english mixture like "Squadron Leader" might pique your palate:

Might I suggest starting off with a Peterson briar pipe- leave the Dunhills and boutique pipes till you know what you want.
