A question for you teachers

I've been considering starting a business. First, it would be a small music shop. But it would have multiple soundproof rooms out back. I would allow teachers to "rent" the room to teach, would provide whatever instruments, books, amps, stands, cables etc. that the teachers needed to use, would advertise your services, and would handle all of the booking of students (or at least offer the service).

My question to you is how much would you be willing to pay for such a service? Lets say if I charged a rate based on each hour using the room. Any other comments and suggestions are welcome.

They have stuff like that here in San Francisco. There's a place called Blue Bear Music which acts like a school of rock for all ages. They have classes at night but also allow teachers to use practice rooms to do lessons. If they're not in use, I believe the students can rent the practice rooms. I dont' know what their rates are tho. I suppose you can look it up online. I think the link is bluebearmusic.org. Their classes are so so and I think geared more to the hobbyist.

The school I teach at handles all the registration, advertising, and billing then charges a flat % as rent.

i worked at a music shop for a while and most of the other ones in the area do the same

the shop gets the students and supplies ( books, cables, etc.) the teacher charges any where from 15-17 dollars and the store charges the teacher about 2-3 dollars per student or per 1/2 hour lesson

this seems to be the norm where i'm from the store makes "free" income and the teacher gets from $24-30 an hour not bad considering min wage is somewhere around $8 !!!
