Record it

I'd like to get some basslines that are in my head on my PC in mp3s. It does not have to be a high quality recording. It's just that I sometimes come up with a nice bassline when I'm practicing, and by the time we have our next rehearsal I've forgotten it. I hate it when that happens
I know, it's probably faster if I write it down. But I always seem to lose papers ...
I'm a total homerecording-dummy. What's the easiest and cheapest way to do it? I have a FC pickup and a Headway pre-amp. I also have the Fdeck pre. My PC is old (I have to put charcoal in it's oven to start it up ) and I don't have a dedicated soundcard. It's integrated in the motherboard. All help is much appreciated. Thank.

M-audio's microtrack is also another good option.
