Rip Ben Ingram, great Louisville Ky Bass Player

I decided to post this here rather then under the bassists category. I think we reserve that area for people known outside of our local communities.
Great Louisville bassist Ben Engram died last week at the age of 79. He played 6 nights a week for most of the 25 years that I have lived in Louisville. He was a role model for us all and an all around great guy. He was a good soul with a big heart.
Ben became ill about 1 year ago and spent the last few months in a nursing home. His health seemed to be improving lately & he was talking about returning to his home. I spoke with him on the phone about a month ago & he seemed to be feeling good. I wish he'd made it home, but I'm glad the he left us while he was feeling up rather than down.
His funeral concluded with a recording of Paul Chambers play ing "yesterdays". He went out in style. He will be missed greatly.

Send a message via AIM to ole Jason
I've heard his name several times but I never had the chance to hear him play, unfortunately.
